Feasts throughout history: more than just a meal
For thousands of years, feasting has been a cornerstone of human connection, symbolizing unity, celebration, and the sharing of wisdom across cultures. From ancient Greek symposiums to Japanese tea ceremonies, food has always been a way to bring people together, fostering relationships and strengthening communities.
The healing power of food
Indigenous cultures view communal meals as a way to express gratitude to the land, while Mediterranean dining customs emphasize fresh, locally grown ingredients meant to be savored slowly. Whether it’s a family meal or a festival feast, the act of gathering around food nourishes both body and spirit. In modern society, however, the fast pace of life has distanced many from the joy of slow, intentional eating.
Bringing nature to the table
A true feast goes beyond what is on the plate—it includes the environment that surrounds it. The art of setting a table with foraged wildflowers, enjoying botanical-infused drinks, and eating foods grown with care connects us to nature in a meaningful way.
Permaculture principles teach us that food is not just something we consume—it is part of a larger ecosystem. Choosing locally sourced, organic ingredients supports soil health and biodiversity. Gathering fresh herbs from a garden or selecting seasonal produce from a market strengthens our relationship with the land.
A celebration of community and connection
At La Belle Eco, we embrace the philosophy that food should be a source of nourishment, joy, and togetherness. That’s why we’re excited to host Feel Good Feasting, a retreat dedicated to reconnecting with the ritual of shared meals. Through hands-on workshops, guests will explore the healing power of food, from fermentation and broth-making to botanical cocktails and flower arranging.
Under the guidance of @gemma.ogston, a passionate advocate for food as a form of self-care. All the participants will experience a weekend of learning, relaxation, and feasting. This retreat is a space to slow down, appreciate the beauty of food, and connect with like-minded individuals.
At its heart, feasting is an invitation—to savor, to share, and to celebrate. And at La Belle Eco, we are honored to keep this tradition alive. 🌿
