We are a permaculture centre so why the focus on art you may ask.

Permaculture is more than just an eco-approach to gardening. It is a focus on building communities in which humans and nature can thrive.

By prioritising and promoting both nature and art, we aim to create spaces and opportunities for individuals to find solace, healing, and personal growth.

Art enables us to communicate complex emotions and difficult problems we are facing directly to each other which in turn builds our empathy and fosters dialogue.

This exchange of ideas and perspectives strengthens the fabric of a community and promotes understanding and unity.

Lets build a community of beauty and kindness through art!

“Great art picks up where nature ends.”

funded artists residencies

Subsidised space to come and create

In the summer we will hang your work in our summer exhibition. It will remain hung throughout the summer and if a piece is sold all revenue will go directly to you.

The summer exhibition

You will be accommodated in one of our forest cabins, provided with access to an arts studio suitable for your discipline and offered a simple diet straight from our no dig gardens and lovingly prepared by our chef.

What we offer

The Exchange

All we ask for in return is that during your stay you engage with the garden and surrounding natural systems. It will be light work (e.g. watering) that won’t require more than an hour a day. At the end of your residency you donate one piece of work to our permanent collection.

funded artists residencies

Throughout the spring we offer several Artists Residencies., from two weeks to a month in duration.

“In order to understand the world, one has to turn away from it on occasion.”

― ALBERT CAMUS ―
FRENCH PHILOSOPHER

Sometimes all an artist needs is that little extra time to themselves to properly allow their creativity to flow. Whether it is a book you are working on or a chance to be by yourself and paint, or you want to practice some pottery we can provide you with the space required.

“Creating artwork allows your mind to be in a safe place while it contemplates the tougher issues you are dealing with. One can use the tools of brush, paint, pastels, crayons etc to expose and even for a short time color those issues in a different light.”

Fun! with unique features and lovely staff
We loved the concept and its singularity. Chic sophisticated and simple at the same time. Cool and warm welcome, everything we like!

The rooms are beautifully decorated in keeping with the Belle Epoque style of the house and the beds were very comfortable. We joined the hosts along other guests for a lovely 3 course meal both evenings, ending in lovely evenings with plenty of wine and laughs.  Everyone we met was really friendly and helpful - and our dog made some new canine friends, too!

The natural pool is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, sunbathing listening to the frogs and the birds - heaven. The breakfasts of delicious local pastries and baguettes, and the dinners round the candlelit table with amazing food and delicious wine will linger in the memory for a long time! Congratulations LaBelleEco you are getting everything right!!!
